A new video put together by IMDB showcases the visual parallels between the trailers for Ridley Scott’s original classic Blade Runner and the long-awaited sequel Blade Runner 2049 from director Denis Villeneuve (SicarioArrival).
Warner Bros. released the trailer earlier this week for the sequel which is set 30 years after the first film and follows the new blade runner, LAPD Officer K (Ryan Gosling) as he searches for Rick Deckard (Harrison Ford) who has been missing since the first film after discovering a terrible secret that could send what is left of society into chaos.
The new trailer itself revealed a stunning return to the dark and dirty future first introduced to audiences in 1982 as it evoked plenty of familiar imagery from the original film. You can check out the shot for shot look at the trailers below.
The film stars Ryan Gosling, Harrison Ford, Ana de Armas, Sylvia Hoeks, Robin Wright, Mackenzie Davis, Carla Juri, Lennie James, with Dave Bautista and Jared Leto. Here’s the official synopsis:
Thirty years after the events of the first film, a new blade runner, LAPD Officer K (Ryan Gosling), unearths a long-buried secret that has the potential to plunge what’s left of society into chaos. K’s discovery leads him on a quest to find Rick Deckard (Harrison Ford), a former LAPD blade runner who has been missing for 30 years.
Blade Runner 2049 hits theaters October 6, 2017.
