Dean Ambrose Wins WWE Title After Cashing in Money in the Bank vs. Seth Rollins

Sunday was a good day for the state of Ohio. The Cleveland Cavaliers won the NBA title, and Cincinnati native Dean Ambrose is the WWE World Heavyeweight Champion.
After Seth Rollins defeated Roman Reigns at WWE Money in the Bank in Las Vegas to win his second world title, Ambrose cashed in his newly won Money in the Bank contract and hit Rollins with his Dirty Deeds finisher to win the heavyweight championship.
WWE tweeted this after the Lunatic Fringe did the impossible:

The championship victory culminated an up-and-down few months for Ambrose.
A highly anticipated match between him and Brock Lesnar did not live up to the billing at WrestleMania, but Ambrose followed that up with back-to-back victories over Chris Jericho at Payback and Extreme Rules.

Those matches, however, were not stellar. The Asylum match at Extreme Rules was stiff despite a nice thumbtacks spot at the end. Even though Ambrose has piled up wins since the disappointing no-holds-barred match against Lesnar at AT&T Stadium, the results haven't been exciting.
All of that changed Sunday night, when Ambrose won arguably the best Money in the Bank ladder match in WWE history over Kevin Owens, Sami Zayn, Cesaro, Alberto Del Rio and Jericho.
Rollins, in his first match since undergoing knee surgery in November, put on a great performance and shocked the world by picking up the win. Ambrose hit Rollins in the face with the briefcase after the match, which prompted the cash-in.
Hall of Fame ring announcer Howard Finkel had this reaction when Ambrose stunned the Las Vegas crowd:

WWE Universe also congratulated the NBA champion Cleveland Cavaliers after they capped off a big day for the state of Ohio:

ECW legend Tommy Dreamer didn't find out about the news until he got off an airplane, but he was happy with the result:

Giving Ambrose a push into the main event echelon has been overdue. Whether or not the decision to have him cash in the contract so early was a good one, Ambrose is finally where he needs to be as one of the best workers in the company.
Now, WWE can move forward with planning the much-anticipated Shield Triple Threat match, which will hopefully happen at SummerSlam on Aug. 21 rather than Battleground on July 24.
